Should Fanna be Banned

The Blogsphere seems to be hot with this question!!!! Now this is not what I would like to discuss!!! Be it Fanna or any other movie, banning is never the solution.... Who the F*** are you to decide what I or other people get to see.... Let people see and decide what they want... If you don't ban the movie no one is gonna force the people to the Movie Screens... They can always decide what they want....
Amir taking Fanna Down??

I BET HE IS!!!!

Was going through a few blogs today and there were some concerns raised by a few people who felt that Amir is actually taking Fanna down.... No, It is not because of his acting(Though I would agree to that too)... but because of his Narmada statements...

Why the hell does he need to say things that are not in his domain!! Does he thing his movie career is over(Cauze we certainly don't feel so... He can dance around trees a bit more longer) and now he needs to go the Govinda way!!!!

Fanna: Finally Here

Alright, so it's finally here, the film we've been discussing for days now and the film we've been eager to see for some months. Hum Tum director Kunal Kohli's Fanaa starring Aamir Khan and Kajol is this week's big new Bollywood release.
At its heart, it's a love story between a blind girl from Kashmir and a tour guide she falls for on a trip to Delhi. They sing songs, they do some sight-seeing, they make love -- and then he vanishes, convincing her that he's dead.
Seven years later he runs into her again. By now she's regained her sight, she has a son from her relationship with him, but she doesn't recognise him. Oh and yes, there's one more hitch -- he's a terrorist and she doesn't know it.
Eventually he reveals to her that he's the man she loved and the father of her son, and that he's never stopped loving her. She hasn't either. The couple marries, but she still doesn't know what he does for a living. When she does stumble upon his real identity, she must ask herself if this is really the man she's always loved.
The problems in Fanaa start pouring out from the very start of the film, and most of its flaws arise from its careless script and its fractured screenplay. Now I've complained incessantly about how films like Pyare Mohan and Tom Dick And Harry are insensitive towards the handicapped, and in Fanaa, I find that the problem's a little different, but it's there nonetheless.
Kajol's mother Kiron Kher practically badgers her blind daughter into finding a soulmate when she leaves for the Capital. It seems almost obligatory for this blind girl to come back with a partner who will have her. So much so that nobody even blinks an eyelid when she's being wooed passionately by an incorrigibly flirtatious tour guide.
In fact, her friends encourage her to respond to his advances, and the parents are overjoyed when she tells them she's found a partner. I could be wrong but I find that this attitude is completely regressive...
The film's first-half in particular is campy as hell, with Aamir spouting cheesy shayiri and the kind of one-liners that make you cringe with embarrassment. And then, I suppose in these times of instant coffee and instant noodles, nobody finds it strange that this couple meet, they fall in love, and they even sleep together ALL in seven days!
Fine, but I'm not going to overlook the fact that the film is full of all these creative liberties or freakish coincidences -- call them what you may. Whether it's the fact that she miraculously gets her eyesight back after one random surgery, or that years later when he's battling for life and death whose doorstep does he land up on but hers.
Even the fact that she doesn't recognise him from his voice when she meets him years later. You know your typical Hindi films are full of such inaccuracies and liberties, but this is hardly the stuff you expect from an Aamir Khan picture which is always positioned as being more real and smarter than the rest!
My most basic problem with Fanaa really is that it's so darn boring. The film drags on and on without either purpose or plot. It's dull and it's slow and it really tests your patience because you know exactly what's going to happen, yet you have to wait for the film to unfold at it's own leisurely pace.
The screenplay is littered with songs that aren't particularly hummable and they only further slacken the film's pace. Now of the actors, Aamir Khan is efficient, but he's saddled with such a poorly-written character that you can't even blame him for failing to rise above the script.
After all, till the end of the film he seems this wishy-washy guy who can't decide if his heart is really set upon the mission that he's on, or if he's doing it because he's being made to. It is undeniably Kajol who steals the show -- not because of a sterling performance because there's no great histrionics expected here -- but because she has this presence on screen that's unparalleled by her contemporaries.
She looks a million bucks and she infuses life into that role. As for their chemistry together, alas, it just isn't there! In the end, as you leave the cinema after a screening of Fanaa, you feel almost like you're coming back from war.

Karisma's life inspires new film

As more and more Bollywood filmmakers turn to real life for ideas, debutant director Nilesh Mulye says his first movie has been inspired by the "love story" of Abhishek Bachchan and Karisma Kapoor.

Mulye, currently writing the script for the film to be produced by Raj Gandhi, says, "My film has been tentatively titled Glamour and it has been inspired by high profile marriages and divorces in high society and corporate circles."

He is excited about his project, which he describes as "an out and out love story".

"My idea is not to show either Sanjay Kapur or Karisma Kapoor in a negative light. I have just been inspired by the love story of Abhishek Bachchan and Karisma, their break-up, Karisma's marriage on the rebound to Sanjay Kapur, their hurried honeymoon and a subsequent split and coming together," Mulye told PTI.

First-time director Nilesh Mulye intends to use his film as a means to explore the phenomenon of celebrity marriages and divorces
"It is not my intention to paint any celebrity in black."

Mulye says Glamour will be a "social film which will set out at length to tackle the issue of marriage conducted in haste only to repent in leisure".

Mulye has signed Saakshi Shivanand and her sister Shilpa to play the roles of Karisma and Kareena Kapoor. A new actor called Kabier Sawhney has been pencilled in to play the role of a rich industrialist who is a divorcee.

"Through my film, I will set out to show how rich industrialists hurriedly get married to glamour girls from tinsel town, blinded by their name and fame and later are unable to cope with reality," Mulye says.

"Every marriage between an industrialist and an actress isn't jinxed. There are many exceptions to the rule," he points out.

Another unique feature about Glamour is that it will not have any vamp or villain, Mulye says.

Movie Review: 36 China Town

From master-thriller makers comes this brisk and bouncy rib-tickler that purports to be a comic whodunit. Admittedly, some portions of the narrative keep you smiling and some make you bite your nail in suspense.

This is pleasurable silliness masquerading as a whodunit. To that extent it works, though you never know why the film had to have the title that it has when in fact China Town plays no part in it. Sure, paper dragons float by in the climatic song and we see some mongoloid faces in the chorus line. But er... is that all it takes to create China Town? Maybe Abbas-Mustan wanted the film to be more stylish than the other films. The ambience is saturated with vibrant colours and smooth songs (Himesh Reshammiya). The artwork, cinematography and editing are flamboyant without flaunting the glamour quotient or giving away the film's illogical plot. If this is meant to be a whodunit then the denouement comes as a big disappointment. But since the film showcases some truly eye-catching actors in ritzy clothes and sets that try to be upmarket and non-garish, you tend to forget how weakly the whodunit whimpers to a finish.

Paresh Rawal and Johnny Lever with their respective screen-wives Payal Rohatgi and Tanaaz Lal know how to roll their eyes without losing their focus on the film's suspenseful ambitions. But the dialogues are the pits. The joke about calling a lady a bomb that Upen Patel uses to flirt was used by Akshaye Khanna in Subhash Ghai's SHAADI SE PEHLE. Aridity of ideas or just production control? What really carries the script beyond its inherent wishy-washiness are the actors.

Akshaye Khanna, better here being serious after his over-the-top comedy in SHAADI SE PEHLE last month, plays the investigative officer with arresting élan. Vivek Shouq as his assistant has been given some deft behind-the-scenes humour to make his character come alive. Shahid and Kareena as the couple on the run share a warmth that somewhere transcends the plot. Kareena's chiselled beauty pervades the film, superseding the bevy of feminine beauties, including Priyanka Chopra's endearing walk-on part, whereas Shahid's comic timing and energy are eminently endearing. Upen as the Casanova in the casino makes an unusual stylish debut. He dances with confidence and holds his own even among the accomplished ensemble of actors.

36 CHINATOWN courts frivolity without falling flat on its face. There's a certain momentum to the humour that doesn't get diluted by the depleted denouement.

Fanaa - Is it easy to make a choice?
Since the time one is born to the time one can start taking decisions all by one self, a human being is taught about the basic aspect of living life - to be able to judge what is wrong and what is right! And then make a decision about the path we need to take!

Though it seems difficult when heard first, one starts understanding it as one matures with age. But how about a different situation when one is faced with a different problem altogether? Because it couldn't have got trickier for Zooni Ali Beg [Kajol]!

She is at such a stage of her life when she has to decide about what is "GREATER OF THE TWO GOODS" or "LESSER OF TWO EVILS"!!

A simple girl by heart and in the way she lived her life, she first heard about this strange scenario from her father who advised her about this REAL challenge in life! And now it's upon her to take a cue from this advice and change the direction of her life. What happened to her? What was so difficult that she was forced to take a tough call at this juncture of her life?

After all she was just a young Kashmiri girl who wanted to live life to the fullest and cherish the beauty of her motherland. She wanted to "see" everything that life had to offer to her. So what, if she couldn't see from her eyes because of her being blind? She still had her heart and soul to tell her all about the beauty around her! These were the dreams with which she left home because now she wanted to look at all the colors that life had to offer her!

And this was the journey that made her meet Rehan Qadri [Aamir Khan]!

A local tour guide who had a flair for poetry, he knew how to use the words to maximum effect to win attention from the female folks. A flirt by nature, he had eyes for beauty in whatever format - women or everything that the world had to offer. This is what made him as someone who never made one place as his base as he moved on from one city to another.

What was common between Rehan and Zooni? Their quest to LIVE LIFE!

This is what brought the two together as both Rehan and Zooni started spending time with each other to explore the world. While Zooni was finally able to see things from Rehan's eyes, for Rehan it was a new experience altogether because for the first time someone managed to touch his TRUE self.

Though Zooni's friends were apprehensive about their liaison due to Rehan's reputation as a flirt to the outer world, Zooni felt that he is the one who had the capability to show her everything that she wanted from life. But is life really that simple?

Because there were certain facts about Rehan's personality that even she was not aware. And this very reason also killed Rehan from within! Secrets about his life were never meant to be disclosed to anyone because if they ever came out, they may as well spell DOOM for their relation. On the other hand when Zooni eventually got to know about the REAL Rehan, she was completely shattered. This was the moment that never saw coming!

And now her life is going to change forever. And she has to take a decision that was once mentioned to her by her father. To choose between "GREATER OF THE TWO GOODS" or "LESSER OF TWO EVILS".

A Kunal Kohli film, 'Fanaa', a Yash Raj Films production, has music composed by Jatin Lalit with lyrics by Prasoon Joshi. The film hits the screens worldwide on May 26th.
Phir Hera Pheri - The escapades of Baburao, Raju and Shyam
'Hera Pheri' holds a special place in the history of Hindi cinema for number of reasons.

1) It is easily amongst THE BEST 5 comedies of all times
2) It is THE movie that firmly established Priyadarshan as the 'King Of Comedies'
3) It reaffirmed THE belief that Akshay Kumar-Suneil Shetty combo always spelt magic
4) It is THE movie that proved that Akshay Kumar was much more than just an action hero
5) It is THE movie that made Paresh Rawal the STAR he is today because after 'Hera Pheri' there was no looking back for him

And now there is more enjoyment in store as the deadly trio of Baburao [Paresh Rawal], Raju [Akshay Kumar] and Shyam [Suneil Shetty] are back at what they are best at - LAUGH AT THEMSELVES! Because they are now ready to do 'PHIR HERA PHERI'! Prolific writer Neeraj Vora, who was also the man behind the dialogues and screenplay of 'Hera Pheri' takes over the mantle from Priyadarshan for the sequel while the leading lady Tabu is replaced by Bipasha Basu and Rimmi Sen who has been Priyadarshan's current favorite after 'Hulchul, 'Kyun Ki' and 'Garam Masala'.

Everyone remembers what happened to Baburao, Raju and Shyam when 'Hera Pheri' ended? Well, they became rich; in fact super rich, because they managed to save the daughter of a rich businessman [Kulbhushan Kharbanda] after she was kidnapped by BAD MAN Gulshan Grover!

And what happened to all that money from thereon?

Did Casanova Raju throw it all away due to his philandering ways?
Was Shyam able to repay all his loans and still save some for him and his family?
Did Baburao succeed in sending off all the creditors happy from his doors and furnish his damaged garage?

Did the three lead a simple life or they became greedy for more?

Well, not much is known about others but at least Raju wanted a quick way out to increase his wealth. Each of them did want to invest money at the right place but 'shortcut' Raju had some different plans. After all the man, who never shied away from saying "Main Paise Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Kar Sakta Hoon!", could hardly change!

He had a PLAN. A plan that could double the investment in quick time. And for that they needed some money to get started. So what's the trouble? Well, the trouble is that the combined money of three of them too wasn't anywhere near what was actually wanted on the table!

While simple-at-heart and clean-at-mind Shyam and Baburao didn't really have much clue about how to get started, Raju [as expected] knew how to get out of this tricky situation! The trick was to find two investors who could help them in arranging for money and convince them that this was going to be profitable for everyone involved!

Soon he did find the investors, one of them being none other than Rajpal Yadav. But he has his own troubles as well! How? Because he himself has borrowed money from a 'totla' DON - Sharat Saxena. He stammers, but he kills!

In their quest for more money and wealth, Baburao, Raju and Shyam find themselves to be a part of one more exciting adventure of their life. They do take a risk and now they have to run to to save themselves!

A hilarious show in the offering, the film has Rimmi Sen [Anjali] and Bipasha Basu [Anuradha] as the leading ladies supported by horde of comic actors like Johny Lever, Suresh Menon, Suniel Pal, Tiku Talsania, Javed Khan, Manoj Joshi, Razzak Khan and Dinesh Hingoo. Music of the film is handled by current hot favorite Himesh Reshammiya and Sameer is the lyricist. PHP is slated for a June release.
Aparichit - This stranger comes to punish
HE WHO COMES FROM HELL IS NOT AFRAID OF HOT ASHES

That's the STRANGER for you - APARICHIT!

Dubbed version of Shankar directed superhit 'Anniyan' that released in Tamil last year, 'Aparichit' is a film that aims at telling the story about a man who acts as a vigilante of society and wants to punish those who are wrong and change the world - SINGLE HANDEDLY. So what if he has been told all this while that one single person cannot bring around a change? Coming in wake of the super success of 'Rang De Basanti' that too dealt with a social subject, 'Aparichit' is an action-thriller starring South superstar Vikram in the lead role.

Vikram plays a true-to-the-books lawyer who believes in doing everything te right way. His way of functioning doesn't always get him the right results and also brings him humiliation at number of instances, but an idealistic in him doesn't bow down to pressure and hopes that things would turn right one fine day!

Until one day his life takes a turn.......

He comes across a website that details out inspiring lines from Hindu 'puranas' (Garudapuranam). There are lessons of wisdom in the 'purana' as he starts relating to the teachings that state that those who sin are destined to be punished!
Love Ke Chakkar Mein looks interesting

There have been instances when some small movies with relatively unknown starcast have clicked at the box office with good promotion and word of mouth.

Though its quite some time that something like this happened but B.H. Tharun Kumar directed romantic comedy 'Love Ke Chakkar Mein' may just about make it happen again at the box office. Starring newcomers Aarnav Bhatia and Namita, LKCM is a story about a guy who wants to get married but there is one hitch - he is unemployed. He searches for a job but comes across a comic Casanova boss [Rishi Kapoor] who has demands of his own!

How he overcomes all the 'chakkars' and gets the 'love' of his life forms the crux of the film!
"Mallika I Hate You!"

Music Director Sandeep Chowta has composed a song " Mallika I hate you". The song has been written by Vipin Kakkad. The song is for the film Shaadi Se Pehle starring Akshaye Khanna, Mallika Sherwat and Ayesha Takia, directed by Satish Kaushik and produced under the Mukta Arts banner.

This song will be released as a single from the album. The finer details of this new marketing and promotion tactic will be revealed in the next two weeks officially. Surprisingly, Sandeep does not know Mallika personally. Sandeep had kept a low profile but has not gone off the music scene completely.

He composed music for Telugu hit Super. He has recently completed work on a new album American Pilgrimage for which Sanjay Chitale is the lead vocalist. We may soon see Sandeep producing and directing a musical film with friend Nagarjuna. But that's in the future!
